What to Expect

  • You will learn ujjayi breathing technique, which accompanies classical and adapted postures initiated by breath.
  • Sequences where several postures are linked for specific purposes.
  • That you make only the amount of effort to participate, in the way it feels right for you on the day, regardless of what other students do.
  • A practice that has built-in challenges, to invite you to step out of your normal range of breathing and movement.
  • A practice that will challenge your balance once or more often.
  • You will be closely observed by me and I only interfere if I see anything that could be harmful to you or a way of enhancing your benefit by suggesting something different.
  • An almost entirely orally transmitted class, where your interpretation of what you want to hear at the time, is the starting point for your practice within a group situation.
  • You can participate in, or listen to a simple chant at the beginning of most sessions.
  • As the class progresses, the breathing instructions will become more specific to enhance focus on your own practice.
  • You are welcomed and encouraged to rest at any time you feel like it.
  • You are welcome and encouraged to ask any questions in between sequences.
  • Every session concludes with relaxation and/or practice of specific breathing as I see fit.
  • Students of different ages, level of experience and fitness.
